The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media (DTCAGSM) in partnership with the National Monuments Service (NMS) is delighted to support the delivery of eight Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) projects during this year’s National Heritage Week 2024.
Taking place from 17th to 25th August 2024, National Heritage Week is an annual celebration of our natural, built and cultural heritage. Hundreds of events will take place across the country during National Heritage Week, including the engaging ICH events highlighted below.
DTCAGSM invited practitioners of ICH practices inscribed on Ireland’s National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage to submit project proposals which celebrate, highlight and showcase elements of Ireland’s ICH. Below are the eight successful projects joined funded by DTCAGSM and NMS.

and live performances. Locations include Cork City, Killorglin, Co. Kerry, New Ross, Co.
Wexford and Trim, Co. Meath.
Free Drama Workshop | National Heritage Week 17th – 25th August 2024 - Irish Harping – ‘Harps for Heritage 2024’ at Muckross House and Traditional Farm, Sunday
18th August at 3pm to 5pm. This will include; a ‘Hands on Harp’ showcase; an ‘Open Forum’
moderated exchange; and a live performance.
Harpers for Heritage | National Heritage Week 17th – 25th August 2024 - Native Irish Cattle Breeding – Bunratty Folk Park and The INRBS host a celebration of
indigenous breeds. A selection of breeds will be on display as well as crafters working with
finished products derived from the breeds. Bunratty Folk Park, Co. Clare, Sunday 18th
August, 10 am to 5 pm. - Traveller Heritage – The Traveller Living History Exhibition Fair Green, Navan on 23rd August
